About Us

Our Ministry

Making A Difference Inc. (MADI) was incorporated and received its 501(c)
(3) status in June 2000. MADI, in concert with the Greater Dayton
Christian Connections, has provided mentors and program coordination
for scores of children and their families in Montgomery County Ohio. We
are dedicated to the physical and spiritual transformation of our
communities. As people of faith, we seek to unify people from all walks
of life – business, religious, neighborhood, and government leaders – to
renew our communities. We have particular concern for the poor, the
vulnerable, and the marginalized.

Mission

Our mission is to increase the capacity of faith and non-faith based
grassroots organizations which operate social services programs by
providing strategic visioning, training, technical assistance, and
organizational development recommendations.

Alphonso Spence - President and Founder

•        President of Trinity Corporation, a Business and Management
Consulting firm
•        Visiting Instructor, Wittenberg University. Focus: Management
•        Lecturer, Bluffton University. Focus: Organizational Management
and Strategic Business Management.
•        MA Business Management (Central Michigan); BS Electronic
Technology (Virginia State University)
•        Past experience includes 17 years with General Motors
Corporation.   14 of those years were in management positions -
Program Manager, Materials Manager, Accounts Manager, Sales
Manager, Sales Engineer
•        Retired Lieutenant Colonel, US Army Reserves: Communications
Electronics Corps, Corps of Engineers, Logistics Corp.
•        VP Operations of an $85 million dollar business.
•        Board service (past and or present): United Theological Seminary,
United Way of Dayton, Dayton Christian Connections, House of Bread,
Pohly Center For Leadership and Supervision Formation, Dayton
Christian Center.
•         Graduate, Leadership Dayton

Sandra Spence – Vice President

•        Deputy Court Administrator, Montgomery County Court
•        Responsible for Business, Finance, Jury, Evidence, Facilities, HR.
Departments consisting of 100 employees
•        BA Personnel Management ( Capital University)
•        Directed Crime Prevention Program
•        Served as Ambassador and District Chairperson to the Ohio Crime
Association
•        Served as Faculty for the National Judicial College
•        Taught courses in Personnel Administration and Decision Making
•        Past member of the Miami Valley Personnel Association and the
Ohio Court administrator’s Association
•        Served as a leader and Treasurer of the Buckeye Trails Council of
the Girl Scouts of America
•        Served on the Boards of the Dayton Urban League and the Other
Place
•        Graduate of the Dayton Area Leadership Dayton Program

Gayle Reed – Treasurer

•        Financial Analyst and Tax Auditor for the City of Dayton
•        Prior service as a State of Ohio Revenue Agent
•        Tax consultant to businesses and individuals
•        Served as a Corporate Tax Consultant for L.M. Berry & Company
•        University/College level studies at Wright State University, Sinclair
College with an Accounting focus
•        Indiana University and Michigan University Tax Executive Studies
•        Board of Directors of New Direction Youth, Wright Computer
Connections, First Dayton Little League, and the National Forum for
Black Public Administrators

Richard Carr – Legal Advisor

•        Director with Dunlevey, Mahan & Furry
•        Focuses on representation of business clients in planning,
transactions and litigation
